When we founded TalentHub, we didn’t want to create just another company. We wanted to build an environment where people thrive. That means adapting and being innovative in our approach to work.
Last year, we flew our team over to Malaga, Spain for a winter office-retreat. It was a great experience and brought newborn energy to the team to tackle the rest of the winter.
But now, another thing that has gained momentum over the past year is a four-day workweek. Hundreds of companies around the world are trying it.
That’s when we thought: we’ve yet to see a company in Estonia try it out. We’re an agency in the human resources field. If someone is coming up with forward-thinking solutions, it should be us.
Why a four-day workweek?
In Estonia, sunlight is scarce, especially in the winter. Winters are cold, days are short, which means many of us would rather stay inside than do outdoor activities. As a result, we tend to focus more on our work.
The summer, on the other hand, is a time for “White Nights,” something that Estonia is known for. It’s when the summer daylight extends into the night. There are many events going on and opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.
That’s why, starting from Midsummer’s Day (June 24th) and extending towards the end of August, we’ll work four days per week.
We want to give our employees a chance to live a balanced lifestyle. A workplace where you can thrive on a professional level, but also make time for yourself. This leads to increased well-being and happiness, and happy employees are more likely to perform better.
Does this change the salaries of our employees?
No. We don’t want anyone to make sacrifices because of this. We’re keeping the same salary system throughout the period.
Is this the future of work?
We believe it’s a more efficient way to work. You don’t have to sit at your desk for the sake of filling in the hours.
At TalentHub, we run on trust, transparency, and autonomy. People have the trust and freedom to manage their work. As long as the work gets done, it doesn’t matter where or when it’s done.
It’s a chance for us to learn to value our time more and become even more efficient with our planning. It will be a two-month trial period, but we’d love to adopt an even longer four-day workweek in the future.
You’ll hear from us soon, with an update about how our four-day workweek is going.
P.S. We’re currently hiring for several roles, including Talent Sourcer and Recruitment Partner.
